Golden sand beneath my feet
that shimmers in the glowing heat.
Silver stars burning so bright
when silent falls the desert night.
I know now why you love this place
and I found to my great amaze
that a land so fit to bring sheer death
brought back to me my lost hope′s breath.
I came here so long ago,
searching for an unknown foe,
to take revenge for pain and strife
for murder and my shattered life.
Half of me lies buried deep
in a grave, my love, she gently sleeps,
and I had vowed to kill that man
who poisoned wife and unborn son.
I gladly joined when you did ask
to set me on that deadly task
to help you fight these undead band
that tried to override your land.
I came for dying, longed for death,
I yearned to draw my final breath.
But every battle I survived
threw me back in the arms of life.
I shunned the desert stars these nights,
didn′t want to see their sparkling light.
I did not want to hear the songs
ringing out the whole night long.
I found no hope in stories old
that at the fireside were told.
I saw just loneliness and grief
from which I could find no relief.
But even if you do not heed
stars and moon each night will meet.
The sun with ev′ry dawn will rise
and time on swift wings further flies.
You spoke to me of love and hope
that suddenly came in my scope.
I reached out to take a hand
and felt I′ve found more than a friend.
Wall to wall in golden sands
we now build our lonely tents.
And when the silver stars shine bright
we give in to new delight.
I feel I come to love this lands
that reach to me with tender hands.
And I′ll look up in ev′ry night
to desert starshine′s silver light.
